An Alternative Church Wedding with Unique Outfits

This shoot was inspired wholly by the vastness and beauty of the venue as well as the unitarians inspiring ethos: Ullet Road Unitarian Church. Organise Beth of Alternative Events Company visited a candlelit performance from Mobius Loop – old friends from another life, that spread the message of peace and love. Beth was so taken aback by the stained glass accented and velvet curtain draped building and inspired by the unitarian message of ‘all welcome – religions, non religious, race, sex, age, ability, unitarians are open to all, and don’t push the message of god whatsoever’. Therefore when planning the shoot, it was difficult to choose a theme other than ‘alternative’ due to the building being so flexible. It has an ancient feel to it, therefore we knew we wanted dark accents, in the florals and cake. The other explanation that stuck out was ‘ullet’. An Ullet is an owl, and in this area of Liverpool there’s a theme for bird names streets: lark lane, ullet road etc. However the church is adorned with many carvings of Ullets, so we therefore knew to include owls in our artistry.
We chose a beautiful day for the shoot, meaning the light flooding into the building and outside of the building was beautiful. We had a selection of dresses to change into for different parts of the church, and we utilised the late in different rooms and at different windows, as well as the doors for the iconic confetti shots. The tablescape was done in the most gorgeous room, where the ceiling is completely painted and has an oval shape, giving another aspect to our photographs.
Our couple Natasha and Jason are a real couple and met whilst performing together: Natasha moved to Germany to live her dreams as a professional ice skater in shows in a well known European theme park. Fast forward a few months to Halloween season and a famous German band came to town to be part of the horror musical on ice. Natasha skated across the ice as Jason performed guitar and the rest became history. They’ve lived in three countries together, undergone two visa processes to be together and have family all over the world, some of which have never met. Only to find themselves living in good ole Lancashire where Natasha grew up. Happily married with their diva cat Alice. The spark between Tasha and Jason was electric, and really comes across in the stunning photos, also being performers really matched the inclusive and performative vibe of the unitarian space. (Our pastor Phil, shot in his rainbow garms, can play the game of thrones theme tune on the organ, and does all of the wedding ceremonies himself, no matter what religion or non religion the couple want the ceremony done).
With a gorgeous mix of colours and textures, I’m really pleased with how these photos turned out, I always tend to use a second shooter as well to get a different vibe, which I’m really pleased with. The day was a total success, and highlighted our skills fantastically.

Top Tips for Dealing With Wedding Jitters

Top Tips for Dealing With Wedding Jitters

Your wedding is a magical day which will stay with you forever. However, it’s unquestionable that with a tag like that, there’s also going to be an element of pressure you need to manage. 84% of brides report feeling some sort of stress about their big day. And while a lot of this comes hand-in-hand with planning a large event, it’s unquestionable that standing in front of anyone as the “star of the show” is going to get the nerves jangling.

In this short guide, we’ll look at a handful of techniques you can employ to reduce the jitters ahead of your wedding. From the right prep for your body, to making sure you have all your ducks in a row, here are three important steps to reduce any pre-wedding nerves.

1. Take care of your mind, body, and soul

A healthy physical lifestyle can have a big impact on your mental wellbeing. A study from the University of Cambridge showed that even something as simple as getting between seven to nine hours sleep a night can improve your mood and reduce the chances of depression. Prioritise resting in the lead-up to the big day, as well as eating well and taking the time you need to unwind and relax.

2. Try to frame everything as positively as possible

Having anxiety over a wedding is natural. But worrying about everything going perfectly to plan isn’t realistic. Instead, try to think about everything that’s concerning you and frame in it a positive light. Here are some examples:

  • You’re worried people won’t have a fun time – They’re there for you, not themselves. They’ll be happy if you’re happy.
  • You’re worried about the weather – The weather is uncontrollable. What’s more, your wedding won’t be the first or last to take place in wet or windy conditions. Your venue most likely has a contingency plan.
  • You’re worried about things going to plan – It’s very, very rare for everything to run perfectly smoothly on a wedding day. As long as you have a rough plan in place, the chances of important mishaps are greatly reduced.

Take everything that’s bothering you and try to reposition it in your brain as a positive rather than something to be concerned about.

3. Schedule your big day well in advance

While it might be something which you need to think about well beforehand, having a clear timeline of what the build-up to your wedding should look like will alleviate a lot of nerves. If it’s too late to break it down by month, think about what the week-to-week (or even day-to-day) might look like right before the event. Having this laid out in writing will ease a lot of tension.

Your big day is for you. So enjoy it. Keep these tips in mind in the build-up to the wedding in order to reduce nerves and actually enjoy yourself.

The Deaf Institute, located in the vibrant city centre of Manchester, is a historic venue known for its lively music events and art exhibitions. The venue’s team embraced the concept and generously opened their doors, allowing the creative team to transform the space into a romantic haven for love and celebration.

The styled wedding shoot was meticulously planned and executed by a talented team of professionals who shared a common vision: to showcase the beauty and authenticity of love. From the elegant floral arrangements to the breathtaking wedding attire, every detail was carefully curated to create a visually stunning experience.

The Deaf Institute’s music hall became the main stage for the shoot. Its ornate, high-ceilinged space provided an atmosphere of grandeur and elegance. Soft, romantic lighting illuminated the room, enhancing the intimate mood and creating an enchanting ambiance.

The bride and groom, elegantly dressed in stylish attire, radiated love and happiness throughout the shoot. The bridal fashion showcased a blend of classic and contemporary designs, embracing the latest trends while maintaining a timeless elegance. From flowing wedding gowns adorned with bows to a suave patterned suits, each outfit exuded sophistication and individuality.

The floral arrangements played a vital role in adding a touch of romance and natural beauty to the shoot. Bouquets filled with vibrant blooms and cascading greenery perfectly complemented the venue’s unique aesthetic, creating a harmonious visual feast. Not to mention our felt bouquet as we wanted to use a different media to normal flowers as well.

A talented photographer and videographer were on hand to capture the captivating moments throughout the shoot. From stolen glances to joyous laughter, each frame was a testament to the power of love and connection. The team beautifully encapsulated the emotions of the day, ensuring that the memories can be cherished for a lifetime.

The styled wedding shoot at The Deaf Institute in Manchester was a celebration of love and creativity. It showcased the venue in a beautiful way, all three floors of it and embraced the uniqueness of the models, the space and the lighting. Through the stunning visuals and heartfelt moments, this event captured love in all its forms. Ethereal Elopement at the Beach

wedding-inspiration-elopement-beach-beautiful-gown-dress-tiara-wild-romantic-welsh-coastal-photography-shoot-editorial-ethereal-natural-beauty-caves-coves-abundance-lush-greenery-delicate-blues-blush-pinks-nudes-organic-muted-colour-tones

A wild and romantic Welsh coastal elopement shoot.

When the pandemic was at its worst, the wedding and events industry was on hold. Globally, so many couples sadly had to postpone or even cancel their wedding day which was heartbreaking. Shoot coordinator and stationer Natalie from Jellypress says “Like many others I spent months and months trying my best to stay calm, positive and productive. One day I felt an overwhelming urge to expel my creative passion and set myself a challenge. I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone and organise my first styled wedding shoot, but not content with the usual venue shoot, I wanted to go rugged and wild, on location at the beach.”

A few of Natalie’s favourite suppliers were quickly rounded up and planning begun. As the shoot date approached, and after a week of severely bad weather, Natalie consciously channelled positive thoughts in the hope they would be blessed with good weather. Thankfully, her prayers were answered. “As we approached the Llŷn Peninsula, the clouds dispersed and the sun made an appearance. I kid you not, it was incredible!”.

Natalie had the perfect spot in mind for this shoot. The beautiful beach of Borth-Y-Gest looked over to Tremadoc Bay over to the breath taking Snowdonia mountain range. “I specifically chose this beach as I fell in love with its natural beauty on a recent trip the previous year while on holiday. Its unspoilt nature is just perfect and having grown up with gifts of quartz and other rock specimens brought back from my Dad’s latest mountaineering trip, there’s a little bit of a geologist in me. The caves and coves on this beach are of slate with striking veins of quartz, typically Welsh with an abundance of lush greenery.”

The team opted for a natural pallet of colours that complimented the scenery, focusing on colours including delicate blues, blush pinks and nudes.

Gail Secker Photography together with Jenny Appleton captured the day perfectly. “[They] produced the mind-blowing visual story of the elopement, sublime.” Natalie continues, “The lovely Kate, of Florence & Vera Events, provided styling and backdrops on the day. Focusing on the organic, muted tones within the natural colour palette, Kate created a wild and blustery table scape within the slate rocks, using delicate crockery, cutlery and coloured glassware from Whitehouse Crockery and elegant linen and napkins by Silk & Purl. It was beautiful to magnify and indulge the natural setting and the wild, organic flowers were provided by Perfect Bouquet Full of Flower. Grazing table ingredients were provided by Graze Cheshire including fruits, breads and a variety of cured meats and decadently styled by Florence & Vera Events.”

“Our gorgeous (real couple) Abigail & Anton were a pleasure to work with. Abigail was dressed in a stunning Anna Kara Dress (Effie) supplied by The White Closet. Her hair was styled by Poppy, the sublime headpiece created by the super talented Glorious by Heidi and make up by Cheshire Makeup Co. The timeless natural pearl jewellery from Sarah Vuong Bridal Jewellery and Wedding bands from The Jewellers Guild, Morpeth completed the look impeccably along with shoes from Charlotte Mills. Anton’s suit was supplied by L&J Formal Hire and accessorised by Daisy & Oak Studio. Jennifer Walker Civil Celebrant performed a mock elopement under a beautiful flower arrangement. A two-tier wonder with ethereal sugared wave feature was a truly stunning creation by Elizabeth Anna Cake Design.”

It was so important to Natalie that the stationery was in keeping with the natural beauty. “The delicate place settings were inspired by the quartz that is veined through the slate rock formations with a nod to the beach surroundings and Natural Capiz Shells were used and personalised with hand-written modern calligraphy style guest names.”

Bridgerton Inspired Wedding Shoot

Styled Shoots

Bridgerton Inspired Wedding Shoot

bridgerton-inspired-wedding-ideas-inspiration-gradeur-regal-bouquet-and-bells

Bouquet & Bells together with Tanya from Tanya Flannagan Photography co-coordinated this opulent Bridgerton-inspired styled shoot. As a result of the hit TV series, Bridgerton, the regency wedding theme is on the rise and we wanted to create a shoot to showcase our twist on the trend. It was important to us to pay meticulous details to every element of the shoot, and our aim was to execute the theme in a way that the small details all came together beautifully. The colour scheme was based around pastel colours with particular focus on peaches and pinks with a pop of sky blue.

The shoot was held at Hawkstone Hall and Gardens, a Grade 1-listed building nestled within the hills of the rolling Shropshire countryside. Their ‘Saloon’ dining room, intimate ceremony room and picturesque outdoor space burst with opulence and grandeur, making them the ideal location. Elizabeth Josh Films produced a stunning short film and captured the day spectacularly.

Surrey-based dressmaker Felicity West Macott provided three handmade gowns for the shoot. A peach gown with bardot neckline and corset back was the start of the show, as Felicity had made it bespoke for the shoot. Other gowns featured a long pink ombré train with bell sleeves, and a floral embroidered jumpsuit. Star and Leaf provided a selection of handmade veils, paired beautifully with a bejewelled headpiece by Six Penny Bride. A pair of kitten heel white lace shoes with pink bows finished the look. The model’s hair was styled by Bella Amore Hair Salon, and the makeup was kept classic by Made up by Cathryn. Diamond drop earrings and beautiful rings were provided by London Victorian Ring Co. The groom wore a grey tail suit from Bill Child Formal Wear paired with light grey slim tie.

An abundance of florals were provided by Ginger Lily Florist in pink and peach tones with foliage. The bouquet was big and wild in a waterfall style. Wild Meadow Weddings and Ginger Lily collaborated on the table decor, opting for a long banquet style with blue linen from Coloured Linen Hire. A range of gold vases complete with crockery and goblet glassware made the Saloon fit for a regal banquet. Classic stationery by White Orchid Print and Design finished it off beautifully.

A pale blue four-tier cake with white icing detail in a baroque style was created by Susan from Elizabeth Anna Cake Design. It stood tall on an elegant white cake stand, surrounded by a range of delicious accompaniments including marshmallows, doughnuts, meringues and more, also made by Susan. The real start of the show was Kaiser, a Shire horse fully dressed for the occasion and pulling black open-top carriage courtesy of Huddart Heavy Horses.

Renaissance Romance at Woolas Barn

Renaissance Romance at Woolas Barn

soft-romantic-renaissance-inspired-styled-shoot-woolas-barn-bouquet-and-bells

This elegant shoot took place at Woolas Barn in York. Blending rustic character with modern details, the venue is comprised of 4 seamlessly linked areas including the Stables, the Courtyard, the Granary and the Lambing Shed. Viola Jay Photography says, “I wanted to use the rustic space of Woolas barn and elevate it to something really soft and whimsical, with a renaissance-inspired edge.”

A selection of hand-picked suppliers worked together to bring this fabulous piece of inspiration to life. Viola continues, “Sarah from Stories of Events and Emma Cox Floristry were the perfect team to bring the vision to life. Sarah’s use of soft-flowing fabrics in the table and the styled areas pulled everything together with a beautiful romance. Emma is the floral maestro and used an abundance of ranunculus, tulips and roses in pinks, mauves and browns to create 2 beautiful climbing installations, 2 dried clouds for the table and ceremony space, and 2 incredibly detailed bouquets.”

We particularly love the model styling. The choice of gowns are leaning towards the more traditional look with very intricate details. Voila says, “The Katya Katya gowns really pulled the concept together. We chose dresses that had a lot of intricate detail in the sleeves, the tiers and the lace to add a bit of luxurious minimalism. Likewise, Saint Beth’s earrings and headpieces added to the looks, the beautiful finishing touches. We kept the makeup glowy, with hints of pink and mauve. Both the girls looked dewy and beautiful. For hair, it was all about texture and detail.”

The neutral palette continued through the cake and stationery. Viola adds, “The cake and stationery featured beautiful floral detail, and in the same ongoing colour palette of nudes, pinks and browns! The team created a beautifully cohesive, romantic and organic vision. Both couples were real couples and had an authentic energy and connection to photography.”

Bright and bold in the woods

colourful-wedding-shoot-woodland-weddings-bright-bold-rustic-venue-bouquet-and-bells

We had been desperate to plan a bright & bold shoot for quite some time; something that wasn’t afraid to stand out and push the style boundaries. So, when the opportunity arose to combine our colourful vision with a rustic woodland venue we jumped at it. Cheshire Woodland Weddings’ romantic outdoor ceremony area together with their rustic wooden barn made the perfect location. We handpicked a close-net selection of quality, local suppliers and my vision was brought to life.

Photographer Jessica O’Shaughessy captured all elements of the shoot perfectly. Her style of photography fell hand-in-hand for a colourful theme and the images beautifully reflected all elements of the day. Hannah from Hannah Williamson Flowers created a killer flower crown for model Jo, paired with a beautiful bouquet. Model Kieran fashioned two different suits, each provided by Groom. One featured a quirky pocket garden; a really unique concept that we just adore! Coloured smoke bombs added even more ‘WOW’ and really stood out against the woodland backdrop. Dainty jam jars with colourful stems continued the theme of bright and bold down the woodland aisle. Colourful heart-shaped confetti was hand thrown and shot out of cannons supplied by Your Confetti.

Sam created two different hair looks, each very natural and effortless including accessories by Cassie M Bridal Accessories. Kavita from Magic Mirror Bridal Makeup kept Jo’s makeup very soft and gentle with bronze eyeshadow and a neutral pink lip. The looks was darkened and made more evening appropriate for shots in the barn. Hanni from My Funny Valentine supplied two beautiful bridal gowns. The first was Saffron by Evie Young, an a-line gown with beautiful leaf pattern detail. The second was Lansbury by Pronovias, a strapless mermaid gown with beautiful beading and glitz detail. My personal favourite detail were the angel wings. They attached around Jo’s upper arms and effortlessly blew in the wind which just looked so beautiful in the images, and it’s a fantastic alternative to a traditional veil.

The styling really came to life in the magical rustic barn. A stunning tables cape featured beautiful blooms, placed in a statement gold vase and various glass jars. Coloured tall candles added an element of height to the table along with an element of romance. Vintage crockery supplied by Sweetpea & Ivy was an elegant and quirky alternative that looked gorgeous against the wooden panelling of the barn and dark wash wooden farmhouse table. Individual luxe white menus with rose gold wax seal detail created by Knock Knock Penny Studio finished the look.

The cake was a real showstopper. Julie from The Red Rose Cake Company together with Hannah worked together to create an elegant but vibrant design. A stunning white three-tier with cascading bright florals sat on a wooden barrel. A mouth-watering grazing table was provided by Cheeky Chilli Events. A cold meat platter, delicate macarons and a selection of local cheeses were just some of the delicious treats that featured. Trust me when I say the macarons were absolutely delicious!

An Alternative Church Wedding with Unique Outfits

This shoot was inspired wholly by the vastness and beauty of the venue as well as the unitarians inspiring ethos: Ullet Road Unitarian Church. We chose a beautiful day for the shoot, meaning the light flooding into the building and outside of the building was beautiful. We had a selection of dresses to change into for different parts of the church, and we utilised the late in different rooms and at different windows, as well as the doors for the iconic confetti shots.

Inclusion Revolution at Bourton Hall

inclusion-revolution-bouquet-and-bells-styled-shoot-bourton-hall-forever-curious

Shannon & Jack are Cheshire and London-based filmmakers. Their life was flipped upside down when Shannon injured her spine and became wheelchair bound. They were planning their own wedding at the time and Shannon felt totally alienated when there was no visible disabilities published in any magazines or online blogs.

“I couldn’t find one inspirational shoot or wedding that featured any kind of disability. No wheelchairs, no walking sticks, no visible disabilities. I reached out to fellow disabled brides and grooms and found the story didn’t stop there. There were brides fighting to find dress shops or venues with wheelchair access, and people of all visible and invisible disabilities feeling isolated and completely disheartened. So, Jack and I decided to build a wedding film and photo business that was inclusive of ALL bodies. We set our sights on starting a campaign of styled shoots that featured visibly disabled models, with an aim to inspire couples to dream big no matter their circumstances!”

They were inspired to start a campaign of bridal shoots to encourage disabled couples to dream big on their wedding day and give them hope.

‘I reached out to Zebedee Talent Management, an inclusive modelling agency of all bodies and disabilities, and decided to collaborate with models, Georgina and Rafi. Georgina says, “Representation is almost existent. It’s like it’s forgotten that disabled people also get married. We are still very much human and we dream of our big day”.

Bourton Hall, a stunning Italianate style mansion in Warwickshire, was the decided venue to hold this shoot. “As a team we decided to go big, refusing to allow any of their disabilities to limit our creativity, but only enhance it! Romina designed the most beautiful gown that could be comfortably worn in the wheelchair. The Country Garden Florist designed floral pieces to surround and highlight Georgina’s two wheelchairs, including her mobility chair by TGA mobility. And Neo Walk designed a pair of walking sticks for the models, including a slick T-shape design in black and white for the groom, which completed Rafi’s suave black and white suit and bow tie.”

A gold accent was used throughout the styling of the shoot, along with a neutral Italian-inspired colour palette. This was highlights in the wedding cake by Amalina Bakes. “Elizabeth Terzza created nature-inspired custom accessories from recycled gold, including a stunning golden tiara. Events by Keenda designed a tablescape, accompanied by beautifully handcrafted stationery by The Whole Caboodle. Hannah Finn and Moira Borg created two looks for Georgina; the first was her more natural look for her bridal prep shoot. FOr extra luxury, Roisin Reuss sent us lingerie and a bridal robe! Georgina’s second hair and makeup look featured her in her wedding dress, compelted with a delicate pair of hand-crafted bridal shoes created by Di Hassall and detailed veil designed by Rebecca Anne Designs”.

“We hope this shoot is a message and beacon of hope to bring disability awareness to the forefront of the wedding industry, and that it inspires couples and fellow suppliers to become advocates of the inclusion revolution movement. This is just the beginning!”

Release Your Inner Viking

styled-shoot-viking-theme-alternative-photoshoots-bouquet-and-bells-magazine-blog-wedding-styling-cake-flowers-photography-videography

An alternative Viking themed wedding shoot located at Trevor Quarry in North Wales.

Coordinated by Bouquet & Bells with the concept by The Red Rose Cake Company and photography by Twigs Branch Photography.

Bouquet & Bells recently coordinated this organised shoot, and the concept was quite literally dreamt up by Julie from The Red Rose Cake Company. Julie lives near Llangollen and often walks her 4-legged friend among the quarries and hills. She stumbled across this jaw-dropping limestone quarry location and just knew it would be the perfect setting for the Viking theme.

Bouquet & Bells sourced a close-net team of suppliers and everyone worked extremely hard to bring the theme to life. Props were taken from our own homes including a wooden axe, antique mallet and drinking horn for an authentic look. The overall styling was kept very minimal as we endeavoured to make it appear as if the couple had just eloped together.

Twigs Branch Photography’s epic creativity and editing style made them perfect photographers for this shoot. The intimacy between Harley & David was captured beautifully and the warm-toned images gave the harsh landscape a softness and elegance.

Damian created the most breath-taking short film. He used a drone to swoop over the stunning landscape, and had another camera on-foot to capture Harley and David.

The cake was a striking 4-tier statement with real-leather-look detailing and studs. It was mounted on a rock draped with a reindeer fur throw, finished beautifully with natural foliage and an animal skull.

Harley wore a full-length v-neck gown in a neutral linen. Her hair was kept very rugged with subtle curls and silver hair beads. David’s hair was placed into a topknot and kept very wild. Both models fashioned black and white tribal face paint with a bold smokey eye and Harley paired it with a rusty red lip. Handpicked jewellery and accessories together with a flower crown added a bit of glam and gave a nod to the more modern-day wedding. David wore a grey tweed suit and a linen shirt to match Harley’s dress. Both finished the look with cool Dr Martens, perfect for climbing the harsh terrain.

Caroline from Flowers at the Dutch Barn used a mix of warm-toned fresh flowers. The bouquet was kept fairly minimal and tied with a deep red velvet ribbon.

Uniquely Styled, the sister company of Tipi Unique, provided real fur throws and cushions to add a touch of softness to the scene.
