It is very hard to pick just three brides that I have loved working with, but I will do my best!
- Hayley
When Hayley visited My little Wedding Shop looking for her wedding dress, it soon became very clear that this gown was going to be a unique experience to create! Hayley visited the boutique with her sister and when trying on dresses in the shop, fell in love with the silhouette and fabric of one of my collection designs. However, Hayley didn’t want any lace on her dress instead, she opened up a bag and pulled out a painted canvas and stated that she wanted her dress to look like that!
I love collaborating with my brides and ensuring they feel involved in the creation of their wedding dress, this is such a big part of thew wedding planning journey and creating fond memories of this is so wonderful.
So when making Hayley’s dress, I spent a lot of time researching and testing different fabric paints and techniques that would work on her chosen fabric and then we planned in a day when Hayley came into the workshop with me and we hand painted the pieces of her dress together!
I then copper foiled over the painted fabric to go with Hayley’s theme before constructing her gown and the finished result was truly wonderful!
Hayley had her perfect dress and memories of creating it too!
“Thank you so much for making my wedding dress dreams come true. I can’t thank you both enough for creating the most beautiful wedding dress for me. I came to you with an idea and your talents made it a reality, something that I thought wouldn’t be possible, you made possible.
Thank you so much for also making it possible for me to paint my own wedding dress, it was an unforgettable experience and a memory I will cherish always. The whole experience was incredible from start to finish and I will be recommending you to every bride I meet. I can’t thank you enough. Love Hayley.”
2. Hannah
Hannah contacted My little Wedding Shop during the lockdowns of 2020/2021. Hannah had her wedding date planned and wanted to go ahead with designing her wedding dress as she knew we would not have a lot of time to make it! The design process was all done via zoom calls and by sending designs and fabric swatches out in the post which was exciting for us both and kept us busy during the lockdown times!
As soon as I was allowed to re-open the boutique, Hannah was my first bride into the shop to get measured and confirm her dress order. I then had just 5 weeks to create her gown and fit it to Hannah, who lived quite some time away in Yorkshire, so we had to plan in the fittings around Hannah’s very busy schedule.
Hannah’s gown was so wonderful to create, it was actually a bodice with two skirts so Hannah could change her look from day to night, but I created the outfit in such a way that it looked like one dress, so the transformation would be a surprise to everyone at the wedding. Hannah choose a beautiful, 3D lace in a deep rose pink and combined it with ivory silk and pearl embellished tulle. Creating her gown was just wonderful and to see the smile on her face in her wedding day pictures was marvellous. Hannah didn’t believe she could get the gown of her dreams due to the lockdown, but I made sure that her experience was happy and exciting and she looked fantastic on her wedding day!
“Our whole wedding / being together in Covid was very stressful and when I came to thinking about wedding dresses, I had gained a stone at least and generally had lived in scrubs for a year. We had been turned down and berated by several wedding dress shops as to why we had left it so late. I cannot describe how grateful I am for all of the work you did with me and my mum over the weeks leading up to the wedding. I really enjoyed coming to your shop every week for the design sessions and fittings.
Once again, thank you so much! All the best for the future.” – Hannah
3. Rachel
When Rachel visited My little Wedding Shop one of the things that was important to her was the environmental impact of her wedding day. Rachel was getting married in the woods over in Cardiff, where she was from and she knew that she wanted her dress to fit with that theme.
I designed Rachel’s dress to incorporate recycled satin and recycled tulle as well as stunning trailing greenery and yellow flowers. Rachels dress was flowing and soft and we hid the coloured elements behind the chiffon so they would be softer and more of a reveal!
Rachels gown was all about movement, the chiffon layers were perfect for an outdoor wedding as they move beautifully in the breeze. Her bodice had a beautiful, leaf embossed georgette to add extra detail and texture to the bodice and also to set off the floral motifs.
I loved every one of Rachel’s fittings, each fitting was with her sister and her mother who all travelled from Cardiff for the fittings and made a day out of each of their visits, adding to the wonderful experience of having her gown created for her.
I also worked with her little niece and used elements of Rachels dress fabrics to embellish a flower girl dress, so she could look like her Auntie on the day!
Rachel’s wedding was magical and she looked absolutely stunning in her gown.
“Thank you so much for accepting to design and make my wedding dress, you and your talents have surpassed all of our expectations and more! We have loved taking the journey to spend time with you, we will miss it very much. With love, Rachel (one very happy bride!)”
