We are Matt and Lou Hardy – husband and wife team who are dedicated to making your special event go with a bang. We provide and end to end catering experience for customers across the North West and beyond, bringing fun and fine food to any event. Whether you want to create a festival vibe, relaxed laid back atmosphere or classic catering – we are here to help.

We opened our café restaurant in West Kirby, Wirral, in 2014. This was soon followed by the conversion of our VW Bay, into the Big Dub of Love. And so the outside catering dream was now underway…and we’ve not stopped since! We have grown consistently and now cater for weddings, corporate events, festivals and private parties with our fabulous team. Along with our giant tipis, The Big Tipi of Love, we are not offering a truly wrap around service for our clients.

Previous Weddings

We love to travel around the North West, catering at weddings in the Lake District, North Wales and Anglesey and of course Merseyside.

As we often hold weddings in our tipis, the locations can be spectacular! We love to hold our weddings at Wirral Country Park, Thurstaston, Wirral – where there’s big views over to North Wales; the beautiful Tros Yr Afon, Anglesey and Silverholme Manor on the banks of Lake Windermere.

We have had the pleasure of working at quirky venues such as Victoria Baths and Five Four Studios in Manchester – both of which are fabulous venues which offer something a little different!

We can’t even begin to thank you enough for all your help and support for our wedding last weekend at Silverholme. 

The Lake District put on it’s finest in terms of weather and the torrential rain/thunder/hail was barely noticed as the cosy tipis were so perfect. 

You kept us so calm in the lead up to the wedding, helping with suppliers and giving us advice as complete event planning amateurs. 

The food was unbelievable - we still can’t figure out how you managed to cook everything so perfectly for so many people and we had too many compliments to count. 

The service and the team were exceptional, constantly smiling and they felt like part of the wedding. 

We will be recommending you to anyone who listens!

The dust has settled and our hangovers have finally worn off so it's finally time to email and say: THANK YOU SO F*****G MUCH!!!!! Emily and I had such an amazing day and the food went down such a treat. The brownie mountain? Oh boy, I don't think anyone had seen anything like it - it was such a hit! People have been raving about the food to us non stop the past week or so. From both Emily and I, again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The wedding day was truly the best day of our lives and the food was such an important part of it. We can't thank you enough for all the hard work that you put into this, and how flexible and supportive you've been throughout the clusterfuckery of the covid postponements. We really couldn't have done it without your good humour and patience, you've been rays of sunshine through an often shitty couple of years! From day one everything just clicked and it's been a real pleasure to spend time with you during this whole journey. Just want to say again a huge huge thank you for this time last week! Honestly everyone said the food was incredible and the best food they’ve had at an event (not just a wedding!). It was absolutely amazing I thoroughly enjoyed scoffing down our own plate of canapés - the tuna was my fave. The celariac for main was INSANE. Just everything was perfect. As I said to Lou I’ll be singing your praises to all my mates getting married in the future.

A huge thank you to Hardy’s for everything they did for our wedding. From day 1 we felt incredibly comfortable with Lou and Matt. We loved that they tailored our menu to our tastes and really understood the direction we wanted. In the months running up to the wedding, no detail was too much for Lou as she helped us sort all the logistics. On the day itself, the food was delicious and impeccably delivered. The big dub of love was a particular highlight - the wraps were delicious! Lou’s catering and bar team also ensured the day ran smoothly and particularly appreciated how they looked after us as the bride and groom with regular top ups and canapés! We loved the experience and recommend for any foodie couples getting married.

From our initial call with Lou discussing options, right through to our wedding day, Matt and Lou have been top class!
Best customer service and likewise, best food ever!!
We’ve been lucky to have a few home delivered hampers since we got Hardys on board…And the food has always been spot on. It got us very excited for our big day.

They cooked up a storm for us on our wedding day with naughty Mexican street food in the day with incredible burgers and dirty fries in the evening!

The big dub of love was additional highlight as it added to the festival feel of the day!

We are massive foodies and we wanted the food to be a big part of the day and we must say Lou, Matt & the team absolutely nailed it! We can’t thank you both and the team enough for what you did for us and all our guests! It was compliments galore, just as we expected from you guys! We had lots of people approach us and say how impressed they were with the food; people know how much we love our food and you complimented that with what you delivered!

Hi Lou, Matt and the Team   We just wanted to say a massive thank you.   From the initial contact in 2021 through to the menu design, tasting and the weeks and days’ approaching the wedding you were all absolutely amazing and we can not thank you enough for this. Food was one of our key considerations for the wedding and your understanding of what we were looking for and what we wanted to achieve made it very easy to choose you.   The food was stunning and exactly as we had hoped – we had so many comments had during and after the wedding saying how amazing it was, both the main meal and the evening food.   Your coordination of everything was amazing too – and you made our life so easy, especially with the supplier issues that cropped up in the week before!   I’ve attached a couple of photos from the day relating to the food – feel free to use as you wish.   Once again thank you so much for everything (and apologies for the time it has taken to get this email to you!)   I hope you have a great Christmas and New Year – no doubt you have a busy 2023 ahead of you!
