Looking for a unique, rural wedding venue? Weddings at Nanteos are something really special.
Claire and I were lucky enough to be treated to an overnight stay at Nanteos Mansion in Aberystwyth, Wales. It’s a stunning Grade I listed building nested in 30 acres of Welsh countryside, and would be the perfect venue for your rural wedding.
The place is steeped in history, with its flagstones, hard wood floors and original furniture.
Weddings at Nanteos
Nanteos Mansion is the perfect venue for your wedding. You could seat around 90 people in the music room, where the huge windows look out onto the rolling Welsh countryside.
It has tonnes of beautiful spaces like this stunning staircase (below) with the hanging chandelier and stained glass windows behind. It would make a gorgeous way to enter your drinks reception (and makes for some pretty spectacular photos).
You could really make the most of the outdoor spaces here, especially on a warm sunny day. The drinks reception could be held outside, and you could make an impressive entrance with all your guests waiting for you.
I love these photos from Naomi and Vince at Whole Picture Weddings. They’ve really captured the beauty of the music room and that confetti shot at the front of Nanteos is beautiful!
Our bedroom had been done up with a modern touch, which we really liked.
The lights, the wallpaper, and the beds were all very modern, and the theme in our room seemed to be blue (including in the bathroom).
I loved this mirror. There’s nothing worse than getting to a hotel and finding it doesn’t have a full length mirror. How many people get ready in hotel rooms?! They should be a must, and this one ticked all the boxes for me.
We even had a plate of mini desserts waiting for us, and some gorgeous buttery shortbread next to the tea and coffee station.
Once we’d settled into our room (and eaten the brownies) we went for a nosy.
The above photo shows the main entrance with a real roaring fire and two gorgeous Chesterfield sofas.
We found the bar pretty quickly, which had more huge sofas in, and some tables to drink at. It was a lovely peaceful room with a huge fireplace. What really made this place special was the amount of original features that have been lovingly restored. Even our bedroom had a gorgeous fireplace in it.
We’d booked our evening meal in for 6pm. It was pretty quiet at this time, and we were the only ones in the restaurant for the first 30 minutes or so.
We both agreed that the food was unbelievable.
The presentation was impeccable and everything tasted amazing. The lemon tarte (above) reminded me of what I had at my wedding for dessert: lemon posset with raspberry sorbet and meringue.
I had beef for my main, served with parmesan mash, and the beef fell apart. Claire had Welsh lamb which was served perfectly pink.
We couldn’t fault the food or the service. We had such a lovely evening, spending the remainder of it drinking wine, and watching TV in bed.
We’d definitely recommend staying at Nanteos, either for a wedding or just to treat yourself. It’s worth the visit!
